Showdown - Social Polling Platform

Amazon in 2013 Q3

Responsibilities: UX + Visual design

Overview

Showdown is a social campaign platform that helps Amazon site merchandisers engage with customers and drive new customer acquisition. It allows customers to claim an offer on Amazon by entering a poll and sharing their answer on Facebook. With a quick and fun way to participate, this campaign creates conversation (comment, share, etc.), thus driving virality. For Amazon, it helps reducing fraud by leveraging Facebook/Twitter verified accounts and expanding our reach beyond existing customers via free channels.

Designs

[1. Showdown campaign view]

One of the design goals was to provide a structured template that can support the various needs of campaign hosts. The template consists of campaign title, a question, and answer choices that are scalable up to 4 options.

[2 . Preview & share your vote]

Another goal was to clearly communicate to customers that by participating, they share the answer to their Facebook friends. To prevent any negative surprises, we help customers see a preview of the Facebook post before clicking “vote”.

[3.  Vote confirmation]

Lastly, we wanted to provide an instant gratification and a source for a conversation with their friends. On top of the traditional confirmation message (e.g., your claimed the credit successfully), we displayed how other friends voted to the poll, showing % of people who agreed and disagreed with the customer.
